In 2018 there will be a year of no new episodes of Game of Thrones.
Despite no Game of Thrones this year, there’s hope on the horizon for plenty more in the future after George RR Martin spoke about the spin-offs and revealed that one of the five had been scrapped.
Star Maisie Williams, who plays the younger sister to Jon Snow, Ayra Stark, was previously quoted to have dropped some big hints about the season eight release date.
However, Williams, 20, has now hit back at the reports stating that she revealed the air date.
Taking to Twitter, the A-lister said: “Just a tweet letting you know this game of thrones release date “quote” I’ve supposedly given is completely false and taken from an interview I did years ago.”
In previously published quotes, the actress is reported to have said: “We air our first episode in April . That’s a four-month turnaround for these huge episodes. There’s a lot that goes into the final edit.”
She went on to tell the Metro: “You would not want to rush this season at all. We owe it to our audience and our fans to really do this final season to the best of our abilities.”
Most recently, the young star dropped a huge hint that Arya Stark could die in Game of Thrones season eight.
During an interview with Jimmy Kimmel, she revealed she’ knew the ending of the show and that it was “incredible”.
It sounds like the programme-makers are going to great lengths to ensure that Game of Thrones season eight is not leaked after Nikolaj Coster-Waldau revealed a secret about how leaks were prevented on set.
Sophie Turner also revealed the shocking levels of security on set in a recent interview, saying that season eight was even given a code name.
